Linda Karl – A Maverick, an Innovator, and a Facilitator of Deep Healing

Lindakarl has been described as a maverick, innovator and facilitator of deep healing through yoga. Her classes go beyond asana into deeper aspects of traditional Yoga for lasting transformation and self-discovery.

Yoga journey began for her in 1971 at a poetry reading led by Allen Ginsburg, an acclaimed Buddhist Beat poet. At that event he asked attendees to chant OM, an ancient sound yoga practitioners refer to as primordial sound; those sounds stayed with her and planted a seed.

After earning her graduate studies in broadcast journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Karl joined KPRC-TV in Houston where she served as both weekend anchor and lead reporter on Dateline Houston; additionally she also hosted weekday 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts; led extensive documentary projects; and won two Emmy awards during her time there.

She holds memberships with both the Society of Professional Journalists and Sisters Network. Additionally, she served as chairperson of Women’s Resource Center’s board before chairing it again; currently serves on boards such as Linda Lorelle Scholarship Fund, Convergence Center for Policy Resolution and Houston Police Foundation as well as being active with Junior League and Texas Woman’s University Institute of Health Sciences-Houston Center.
